This Monday, February 20, the singer Santa indulged in some confidences on the genesis of her title The Difference. At the microphone of France Bluethe artist reveals that she was inspired by her own story and the mockery she was the target of when she was younger.
Revealed in the group Hyphen Hyphen which she co-founded with her childhood friends, Santa has embarked on a solo adventure since 2022 and everything seems to be smiling for the singer. After a first EP released the same year, she won several awards at the NRJ Music Awards 2023, elected, among others, French-speaking female artist of the year. In 2024, Santa continues his rise by unveiling his first solo album, entitled Start me again. Among the eleven titles of her project, she composed The Differencea song that refers to the teasing she was subjected to during her childhood. In the show Decibelspublished this Monday, January 20, she looks back on the genesis of her music and evokes the trials she went through.

“It’s my favorite, I want it to be a hit“, this is how Santa defines his song The Difference, at the microphone of France Blue. At the start of 2025, the singer is releasing a new version of her song, which invites us to love ourselves as we are. She confides about its composition: “This is the first one I wrote knowing that it will be listened to and heard“, before continuing: “This is the first time that ‘You’ emerges in my writing. It is a cry of resistance to the childhood that is within us“. Strong in symbol, The difference echoes Santa’s personal story: “To all these children I meet, who are sometimes a little different and who receive a lot of cruelty because of that. I was the first to have a birthmark and I received a lot of teasing. I clenched my fists and said to myself: ‘Resist, I will make a difference’”.

A few months ago, Santa discovered that his hit song, Start me again, became the official anthem of the Star Academy 2024. A great first in the show, the program had until now used classic pieces, having marked the last decades of the French repertoire. At the microphone of Télé-Leisure, the singer expressed her feelings regarding the news: “It surprised me, but in a good way. Knowing that this song sounded like a classic was the biggest compliment anyone could give me.“. Already buoyed by its success when it was published, the title Santa got a second wind a few months after its release thanks to the telecrochet: “The song was already off to a good start, so it continues to work well. But it’s a huge opportunity for me. It’s exponential and I don’t know how far it’s going to go “, enthused the performer. The academicians will sing the anthem of the season one last time on the TF1 set during the final which will be played between Marine and Ebony, this Saturday January 25.
