Morocco participates in the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture

The 17th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) was held on Saturday in Berlin, on the sidelines of the Green Week of the German capital (January 17-26), with the participation of Morocco, represented by Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari.

Speaking at the GFFA Ministerial Conference, Mr. El Bouari highlighted Morocco’s sectoral strategies, Generation Green, Halieutis and Forests, as well as the Kingdom’s commitment to transforming its food system in order to to strengthen its resilience and consolidate its achievements in terms of food security.

In this process, the development of the bioeconomy constitutes one of the transformation paths adopted by Morocco, affirmed the minister, underlining the importance given by the Kingdom to food security in the transition towards a responsible bioeconomy.

Mr. El Bouari presented, in this context, innovative practices and successful experiences in the field of circular bioeconomy, in particular the transformation of fishing by-products into food for aquaculture and biofertilizers, the valorization of agrifood residues for gas production, as well as the conversion of olive oil crushing residues into energy and biofertilizers.

Addressing, moreover, international cooperation, Mr. El Bouari underlined the central role of South-South cooperation, carried out under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in the sharing of technical innovations in the service of the African continent.
