Zazie, heiress to the Truchis de Varennes

Isabelle “Zazie” Marie Anne de Truchis de Varennes, singer-songwriter, six times distinguished by a Victoire de la Musique, knight then officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, has been going on and on for thirty years successes. It comes from an ancient lineage from Burgundy which has two surviving branches, the Truchis de Varennes and the Truchis de Lays.

Pierre de Truchis, lawyer in the Parliament of Burgundy, son of Samuel de Truchis, who had held the same function, was ennobled in 1648. The “de Varennes” branch comes from his eldest son Jean-François (1682-1761), gendarme of the king’s ordinary guard and builder of the castle of Varennes, in Charrette-Varennes, in Saône-et-, still in possession of the family. It was Claude de Truchis de Varennes, Zazie’s great-great-great-great-grandfather, an officer in Condé’s army, who had the current directorate-style building built, returning from emigration. . The family gave other officers, “king’s gendarmes”, magistrates and lawyers, and a distinguished scholar, the writer and historian Albéric de Truchis de Varennes, perpetual secretary of the Academy of Sciences and Belles-Lettres. from Franche-Comté, great-granduncle of Zazie and his older brother Philippe, the musician and composer Phil Baron.
