Since returning to the Montreal Canadiens lineup, Michael Pezzetta has had very little chance of making a name for himself, but Martin St-Louis would like that to change.
It’s obviously the head coach who chooses who to send into the fray, and using his deep forward sparingly is a strategic decision. When CH falls behind, it prefers to rely on more offensive players in the scrum.

“Unfortunately for Pezz, we have been dealing with delays a lot lately. It would be good to give him more,” admitted St-Louis before the game in Dallas against the Stars.

In his five games in January, Pezzetta spent an average of 4:14 on the ice. He will be in the evening lineup due to the absence of Emil Heineman, and if the CH quickly gains the upper hand over the Stars, we could see more of him.
“Pezz, he’s a pro. Let him have 3-4 [présences]whether he is 8, he has the same attitude. I would like to give him more,” the pilot repeated.
Pezzetta, who did not play at all in November and December, must however be careful not to shoot himself in the foot. He received a minor penalty in his last two duels.
“He must continue to work,” admitted St-Louis. Obviously he wasted a lot of time [de glace]. It’s not easy to come back. I try to give him appearances where he can stand out and feel better and better.”
The 26-year-old Ontarian has not obtained a point in eight games this season. He exceeded fifty games in his first three campaigns with the Habs.
