Little by little, Midem tries to regain color. After having put together a varied and attractive program intended for the general public, then densifying its cycle of meetings and conferences intended for professionals in the Music industry, the event whose brand was bought in 2023 by the City of Cannes adds a new stage to its “rocket”, now piloted by the Live Nation teams.
This Tuesday, we learned that the International Record and Music Publishing Market, which will be held from January 29 to 31, 2025 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, will launch the Midem Awards.
Fifteen trophies awarded
During a gala dinner concocted by Jean Imbert, chef of La Palme d’or, the Martinez’s gourmet restaurant since last May, fifteen prizes will be distributed in order to promote “recognition of talents and major players” of this sector.
During this evening, we will reward the best festival of the year, a local promoter, a publisher, a label, a manager, an artist, a tour, different technical professions or even places (stadiums, arenas, theaters).
In a press release, Midem explains how the winners will be chosen: “After a pre-selection phase carried out by professionals, the nominees by category will then be proposed to the public vote from the application and the website of the MY STOMACH.
Each person will have the opportunity to vote once for the nominee of their choice per category, making 15 possible votes in total.”
This will not be the first time that Midem has rhymed with “prize distribution”. For several years, the meeting organized its Classical Awards. And until 2013, the NRJ Music Awards took place at the same time as this major congress.
Thomas Ngijol at the helm of the evening
Just to bring a little pep to this new ceremony, we will find the irresistible Thomas Ngijol. Arriving on the Croisette will undoubtedly bring back some epic memories in the mind of the comedian, who notably worked there with the Grand Journal team in the early 2010s, during the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2011, with Fabrice Eboué, he also came to the area during the FIF to promote the film “Case Departure”.
Still just as hilarious at 46 years old, this music fan (the poster for his first show parodied the cover of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”) will undoubtedly make the audience laugh.
