Canada is not out of the woods at the next World Junior Championship

Again this year, Canada once again collapsed at the World Junior Championship.

Once again eliminated by the Czech Republic before reaching the medal round, the team leaders have some serious soul-searching to do between now and next year.

Many have criticized the management for the selection of players to make up the team, while high choices in the last NHL draft, such as Beckett Sennecke (3e total), Carter Yakemchuk (7e total) et Zayne Parekh (9e total) were all ignored while energy players with a more defensive role were preferred.

Additionally, head coach Dave Cameron was strongly criticized, he who canceled several training sessions during the tournament citing the fatigue of his team. However, we could see an obvious lack of cohesion during the matches.

It will be very interesting to see the changes in philosophy that will be made next year in view of the 2026 World Junior Championship.

Moreover, Canada is not out of the woods since, as reported by the analyst Cam Robinson of Elite Prospectit is in a group with the powerful teams of the United States and Sweden that he will find himself to start the tournament.

A misstep could once again be fatal.

It will certainly be a decisive tournament for the team’s leaders who will have to succeed in restoring Canada’s image on the international scene.
