Time for the final banquet. This Thursday, January 9, 2025, season 13 of Best Pastry Chef hosted by Laëtitia Milot on M6. After several weeks of competition under the legendary tent, they are only three finalists vying for the title: José, Timothée and Tsiory.
For this final, Cyril Lignac and Mercotte pulled out all the stops by concocting a festive menu for our three opponents. To judge the final events, they are accompanied by the cream of the pastry industry with chefs Nina Métayer and Pierre Hermé. Which of the three men will see their dream come true by winning? The Best Pastry Chef ?
José: an apprentice pastry chef affected four times by cancer
Among them, José is the oldest in this thirteenth final of the culinary competition. This 58-year-old Breton is a stay-at-home father in Morbihan where he devotes himself to three passions: nature, music and baking.. In his spare time, he likes to treat his loved ones and family with his pastries. A vocation that this apprentice pastry chef has cultivated since his youth.
However, the adopted Breton of Portuguese origin has gone through many trials in his life. As he mentions in his portrait during the show, José has overcome four cancers since he was 30. “Two colon cancers eight years apart, one prostate cancer and one intestinal cancer”he details, revealing that he also came close to death.

Supported by his wife Carole and their son Maël, José is a fighter showing resilience to overcome challenges. “Without them, I wouldn’t be here,” says the finalist against Laëtitia Milot, in the first images revealed on the web. “It’s true that I went through complicated times, difficult times. I had four cancers in quick succession. And then, each time, the family was behind it. They are extraordinary, that’s all”, before to burst into tears in front of the host.
“You have overcome a lot of things my José. Family is the most important thing,” assures him little Lyana’s mother. “Do you realize what an example you really are? And here, you continue to fight thanks to them too.” Will these precious words from the presenter motivate him to win the favor of the jury and the public in the final of the competition?
