American chart giant Billboard has done its math, and revealed the list of artists dominating the music industry.
Another list that will raise questions (and indignation) among fans of Rock music. And yet no subjective choices here, it’s only the Billboard figures that speak.
The first American chart platform has just put its TOP 100 biggest artists of the 21st century online, based on all its archives. Number 1 is hardly surprising, since it is still the essential Taylor Swift, followed by Drake and Rihanna. But among the pop stars and rappers there are still a few rockers.
Only one rocker in the Top
And the first Rock group to appear in this ranking, at 26th position, is none other than Nickelback. With his tube How You Remind Me it exploded the counters, and today has the most broadcasts of the 2000s on all formats. The band of Chad Kroeger also managed to enter several singles in the Top 10 of the coveted Hot 100Someday (7e), Photograph (2e), Far Away (8e), Rockstar (6e) et Gotta Be Somebody (10th), in addition to simple airplays in the various Top Rock and Alternative.

More Nickelback is not the only Rock group to make it to this Top. Linkin Park arrives not far behind, in 37th position. Several singles reached the Top 10 of the Hot 100 including In The End (2e), What I’ve Done (7th) and New Divide (6th). But Americans are even more present in the Mainstream Rock and Alternative Airplay chart lists.
At number three in the Rock rankings, Avril Lavigne — the only rocker — made a small place for herself (47th in the Top 100 of the Billboard list), thanks to her singles Complicated (2e), Sk8er Boi (10th), I’m With You (4e), My Happy Ending (9th) and Girlfriend (1st). At the foot of the Rock podium come next Creed (66e), 3 Doors Down, Kid Rock (83e), Daughtry (89e) and Fall Out Boy (100th). Other more mainstream Rock artists like Twenty One Pilots (84e), Coldplay (53rd) or even Imagine Dragons (38th), are also among the lucky winners.
