Do you like music that thrills both the heart and the mind? SO Silly Chilly is a group to follow closely. On December 14, this young sextet from (Seine-Maritime) released his very first singles on streaming platforms, two opposing pieces.

Silly Chilly is the story of six friends: Iris 22 years old, Rémi 23 years old, Victor and Clément both 24 years old, Axelle 26 years old and Mathieu 29 years old.

“Poems set to music”

It’s mainly Victor who writes the songs. “It’s esoteric. We touch on the world of stories with basic themes, seen and revisited, but under simpler texts,” explains the leader of the group. For Clément, “the titles are a little fantasticit’s about love, identity…”.

The writings are also “very poetic”, according to Iris. Rémi adds that they are even “poems set to music”.

Two pieces, two worlds

Last December 14, Suzie et Perfect love have seen the light of day, two opposing titles which embody the entire range of inspirations and genres of Silly Chilly. These titles were released under the 106 label which gives emerging Norman artists the opportunity to record their pieces. “We train there and Laurent Collat, studio manager, liked what we do. It was 106 who contacted us after a rehearsal,” explains Victor.

Perfect love is an “emotional elevator”a sweet and bitter title. It tells a story, that of sleeping with someone you love more. “It sounds very sex music, intense and full of sensitivity,” smiles Iris. For Clément, “it’s a rise in power then the nostalgia of a moment spent together, but which has disappeared”.

Conversely, Suzie is more “joyous and optimistic”. A true ode to acceptance, the song speaks of identity and hope. “It’s not always easy to be yourself, but you have to go for it, give it to yourself. That’s what Suzie brings out,” says Victor.

A “Boeuf Bourguignon” of influences

Between the six of them, they mix a whole bunch of musical worlds. They all have varied influences, which are not necessarily perceived in their pieces, but in their way of understanding music.

Bob Dylan, Serge Gainsbourg, Jim Morrison and even David Bowie, to name a few, for Victor. Jacob Collier, Billie Eilish, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for Iris. Metal and post-punk for Rémi. Sabrina Carpenter and John Bonham, for Axelle. Or even Muse and the Red Hot Chili Peppers for Mathieu.

Clément speaks mainly of the influences of local artists for “their dynamism and their presence on stage”.

Everyone laughs at the variety of musical genres around them. “It’s an explosion of styles, a bit like in Ratatouille when he takes all the ingredients,” laughs Iris. For Clement, “it’s a nice blend, like beef bourguignon” .

And after?

The Silly Chilly don’t plan to stop there. Between the search for financing to release an album, the desire to play on bigger scenesoutside of Rouen, then the desire to go beyond the borders, everyone has their eyes turned towards the future.

Rémi prefers to talk about it in a humorous tone: “We would like to play at the CEM in , then, after that, why not the Accor Arena? Who knows? “.
