Percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan shares excited news about the band’s current creativity and the status of their long-awaited album.
“Several albums in us” : Slipknot enters an intense creative phase
Slipknot seems to be going through a particularly fertile period. In a recent interview with NMEShawn “Clown” Crahan said the band had enough material for several albums. He also expressed a renewed motivation and energy within the group, notably thanks to the arrival of the new drummer, Eloy Casagrande, who brought a refreshing dynamic.
“Eloy is in the group, and something fun is happening between us,” Clown explains. “We are in a phase where everything is aligning. I would say we probably have several albums in us at the moment. Corey already has ideas, he writes lyrics and sends them to us. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it all reminds us of our beginnings.”
Clown describes this period as a return to basics, where the group rediscovered the spontaneity and excitement that had marked its early years.

The release of Look Outside Your Window finally in sight
Furthermore, the album Look Outside Your Windowrecorded alongside All Hope Is Gone in 2008, seems ready to finally see the light of day. This parallel project, in which Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson and Clown participated, is described by the latter as a very personal work and different from the usual Slipknot sound.
Clown confirms that the album is now in the hands of the band's management: “I promised you that it would be released in 2024, but the reality of the end-of-year holidays and commercial deadlines decided otherwise. But there is planning, management takes care of it and the album will be released. I showed Corey the final cover two days ago, and everything is ready.”
He emphasizes the unique character of this project: “It was an honest approach, without the constraints of Slipknot. I don't know if it's 'good', but I like it. It’s music to ourselves, and I hope those who have waited this long will think it was worth it.”
As a reminder, Look Outside Your Window emerged during the sessions of All Hope Is Gone in 2008, with experimental pieces including only 'Til We Die has been published so far.
