The recent controversy surrounding Tim Lambesis, singer of As I Lay Dying, continues to fuel discussions in the Metal scene. After disturbing videos surfaced showing tense exchanges with his ex-wife, Dany, Fear Factory's Dino Cazares spoke out to comment on the situation.
An empathetic statement
On X, Dino Cazares explained that he recognized behaviors similar to those seen in Tim Lambesis' videos: “Unfortunately, I recognize this pattern of behavior because I have been around two people in my life who had these uncontrollable outbursts caused by substance abuse. I have sympathy for her [Dany] and I hope they both find the help they need.”
These words resonate against a backdrop of growing tensions for Tim Lambesis, who is facing allegations of domestic violence and a series of departures within his band.

A complex context
The videos in question, broadcast on Vimeo and shared on social networks, show Lambesis in moments of great distress. In one sequence, he flips a table during an argument with Dany and hits himself several times. Another video captures aggressive gestures and impulsive behavior.
Lambesis responded by stating that these videos were shared in retaliation after he initiated divorce proceedings. He accuses Dany of physically and mentally abusing him over a period of three years, while admitting that her reactions were inappropriate, but not illegal.
The fallout in As I Lay Dying
These revelations come as As I Lay Dying is going through a tumultuous period. Several members of the group left the ship, denouncing a toxic environment. Former key member Phil Sgrosso recently said: “As I Lay Dying no longer provides a healthy or safe setting for anyone involved.”
Despite these departures, Lambesis announced its intention to reform the group with a new composition and to maintain the concerts planned for 2025.
