France Gall: her sad confidences about the death of her daughter
The star couple’s first daughter suffered from cystic fibrosisa rare disease that affected his digestive and respiratory tract. Unfortunately, the young woman who had just celebrated her 19th birthday died on December 15, 1997five years after his father. “We can’t believe going through something like this. We can’t believe we’re going through this, because it’s precisely the thing we don’t want and can’t live through. Everyone says it’s impossible, inhumane… And yet, they made me experience it and I couldn’t believe it was possible,” she said.
A painful ordeal for France Gall who subsequently declared: “I immediately wanted to be the most successful mother in the world at surviving and integrating having lost a child because otherwise, we’re screwed. Ma way of thinking was: ‘It’s extraordinary to have known her for nineteen years. It was taken from me, but it was still given to me for nineteen years‘”.
Pauline Berger rests with her father and mother in a concession at the Montmartre cemetery in division 29. The grave has become a glass house which houses a large Japanese cherry tree.
