Issues such as child support and inheritance rights have been widely discussed ever since, and experts are now telling us more about them under Korean law.
Based on the law, Jung Woo Sung should pay more than 3 million won (approximately 2,100 euros) per month in child support, and the child, even if born out of wedlock, should have rights of inheritance on the property registered in the name of Jung Woo Sung.
Lawyer Yang So Young of Soongin Law Firm said in an interview with reporter Lee Jin Ho on November 25:
“The amount of alimony that Jung Woo Sung will provide is expected to be between 2 and 3 million won (1,400 to 2,100 euros) per month. »
The lawyer explained:
“Since Jung Woo Sung recognized the child born to him and Moon Gabi as his own, he is also responsible for child support. He will likely pay the agreed-upon amount, but if no agreement is reached, the court will determine the amount based on child support laws, which require monthly payments until the child turns 18. »
She added:
“According to the child support guidelines, the maximum monthly income taken into account is 12 million won (8,000 euros), which makes 3 million won per month the maximum limit for child support. However, additional assistance can be provided if discussed with the primary manager. »
The child born out of wedlock will also have inheritance rights to property registered in Jung Woo Sung’s name.
Lawyer Yang So Young said:
“Right now, Jung Woo Sung is known to have a child born out of wedlock. The child’s legal inheritance share would be 100%. »
For example, Jung Woo Sung and Lee Jung Jae jointly purchased a building in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul in 2020 for 33 billion won (around 22 million euros). Currently, and since he is Jung Woo Sung’s only child, Moon Gabi’s child has a 100% legal inheritance share.
If Jung Woo Sung were to marry in the future, Moon Gabi’s son would have the same legal status as any child born from a marriage.
