Mayhem is working on around 20 song ideas for their next album.
A new opus in preparation for the pioneers of black metal
Legendary Norwegian Black Metal band Mayhem are set to enter a new creative phase with their seventh studio album. In a recent interview with the Everblack Podcastbassist Jørn “Necrobutcher” Stubberud revealed details on the progress of this project highly anticipated by fans.
When asked about the possibility of discovering new Music from Mayhem in 2025, Necrobutcher said: “Yes, it’s possible. Teloch [Morten Bergeton Iversen, guitariste de Mayhem] and Charles [Edward Alexander Hedger, guitariste de Mayhem] presented demos — each offered more than 10 songs or sketches — so in total, they presented almost 20 tracks. I listened to everything, and some of the ideas are really great.”

An ambitious schedule
Although the group is currently busy with other commitments, Necrobutcher explained that work sessions will begin as early as March 2025: “After the Australia tour, some of us will tour with other bands. But in March, I think we're going to get together to start working seriously on it. We hope to go into the studio in 2025, and it would be great to release the album the same year. If this is not the case, it will probably be for 2026.”
This new album should be accompanied by a world tour, as Necrobutcher clarified: “Of course we will go on a world tour to promote it.”
