An essential figure on the French small screen for years, notably as an emblematic coach of The VoiceMika created a surprise on the set of Taratata.
The 41-year-old singer, currently godfather of Telethon 2024, announced his decision to end his television activities in France, while reassuring his fans of the continuation of his musical career.
An announcement that casts a chill on the Nagui plateau
It was during a conversation with Nagui that the revelation fell. While the host was talking about the artist’s frantic pace between his different countries of activity, Mika interrupted him abruptly: “No, in France, it’s over, I’m stopping all my TV shows in France”. A statement which stunned the audience present on the Taratata set, pushing Nagui to ironically: “Thank you for coming here anyway.”
A choice that will not affect Mika’s musical career
The 41-year-old singer wanted to reassure his fans by specifying that he will continue his musical career: “Yes, of course, as a singer and to come and speak.” An important nuance which allowed Nagui to make a point of humor in reference to the famous red armchair of The Voice: “You don’t want the chair to turn around anymore, you want the chair to stay upright and you can talk quietly.”
A page turns for the show The Voice
This decision marks a turning point for French entertainment broadcasts, notably The Voice where Mika returned this year after five years of absence. TF1’s flagship show is already preparing its 2025 season with a completely renewed jury, made up of Florent Pagny, who is making his comeback, accompanied by new recruits Patricia Kaas and Zaz, alongside Vianney. Mika, who notably marked the history of the show by being the only one to turn on Kendji Girac during his first participation, will therefore definitely leave his red chair.
Despite this withdrawal from television sets, the interpreter of “Grace Kelly” remains involved in charitable projects, as evidenced by his role as sponsor of the Telethon 2024, scheduled for November 29 and 30 on France Télévisions.
