Musical radio audiences: Catastrophe for Benjamin Castaldi, the Europe 2 morning show exceeded… by Rire et mots

What scores for the musicals? Médiamétrie unveiled, this Thursday, November 14, 2024, the results of the September-October 2024 wave. After analyzing the results of general stations slice by slice, Puremédias now analyzes the trends in musical morning shows from the groups NRJ – NRJ, Nostalgie, Rire et Chansons, Chérie FM – M6 – RTL2 and Fun Radio – Lagardère – Europe 2, RFM – and of course Skyrock.

Manu Lévy just above 600,000 listeners, a great start to the school year for Philippe and Sandy on Nostalgie

In this game, the NRJ group remains the most powerful with two of its musical mornings at the top of the ranking. Starting with “Manu in 6/10”. The program, hosted by Manu Lévy, brightened up the first moments of the day 601.000 listeners on average, according to the average quarter-hour criterion used by Puremédias. Up between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. (with the exception of 6:30 a.m.-6:45 a.m.), down between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., the station's morning show in the “Hit Only” format loses 18.000 listeners over one year. Higher than at the same time in 2023, the peak of the emission – 882,000 (+ 16,000) – was reached earlier this year (7:30 a.m.-7:45 a.m. compared to 8 a.m.-8:15 a.m. in 2023).

Nostalgie represents the NRJ group in second position. With Philippe and Sandy, “Les matins Nostalgie” gave impetus to 369.000 listeners between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. The show, listened to by up to 550,000 listeners between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., is recruiting 31.000 additional listeners over one year. Between 4:30 a.m. and midnight, Nostalgie displays an insolent health with barely 11 quarters of an hour falling.

“Le Morning de Difool” completes the podium with 276.000 listeners on average. The apparent stability of the morning of Skyrock (- 2,000) in fact hides more marked developments: positive between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m., negative between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.

The morning show of Laughs and Songs doubles that of Europe 2

At the foot of the podium, “Le double expresso”, led by Grégory Ascher and Justine Salmon on RTL2, wins 13.000 listeners between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. with an average of 246.000 listeners and a peak of 352,000 listeners between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. The “Son Pop-Rock” station is ahead of Fun Radio.

The other channel of the M6 group, present in this ranking of musical morning shows with “Bruno on Fun Radio”, is stable over one year (+ 4.000 listeners). Below 200,000 listeners, “The Best of Alarm Clocks” on RFM and “Leéveil Chérie” on Chérie FM are down slightly. Like its big sister NRJ, Chérie FM marks its worst return ever.

At the back of the pack, the curves of “Morning of laughter” from Rire et mots, which achieves the best progression among musical morning shows, and “Castaldi awakens France”, which opens the Europe 2 antenna, intersect. The replacement of Clément Lanoue by Benjamin Castaldi did not bear fruit. The Lagardère group's radio station collapses with 78.000 listeners between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. The 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. slot, in which the presenter who worked for M6, TF1, NRJ 12 and even C8 participates, attracted only 96,000 listeners, 43,000 fewer than last year. Europe 2 is in crisis: over the entire day, only 5 quarters of an hour are up over a year.
