Celine Dion back on stage: her surprise concert at the Elie Saab fashion show in Saudi Arabia

The Quebec singer created an event during the Elie Saab fashion show this Wednesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The diva appeared on the podium to sing two of her hits: “The Power of Love” and “I'm Alive.”

Smiling and in great shape, she reassured her fans about her state of health.

She created a surprise. Celine Dion closed the 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab fashion show, organized this Wednesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to celebrate the fashion house's 45th anniversary. Dressed in a dress entirely embroidered with sequins embellished with two long trains, the Quebec diva sang two of her hits “The Power of Love” and “I'm Alive”, surrounded by models who paraded in sumptuous outfits by the Lebanese designer .

Three months after singing “L'Hymne à l'amour” by Edith Piaf from the second floor of the Eiffel Tower for the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, Céline Dion appeared in great form during this grandiose show where Jennifer Lopez and Camila Cabello also performed.

Despite illness, she sang live

Absent from the stage since 2020, the 56-year-old star, who was recently seen at an Adele concert in Las Vegas, suffers from stiff man syndrome. A rare and incurable disease that causes muscle stiffness and violent spasms. And which also influences her vocal performances, as she confided in the documentary I am: Celine Dion broadcast on Prime Video.

Determined not to give up, Celine Dion had nevertheless promised her fans that she would do everything to get on stage again. She proved it during the fashion show where she sang live, as event organizers confirmed to Paris Match (new window). “We talked about it with her, it was very open. She herself wasn't sure she could do it. That might have worried us, but in this environment, zero risk doesn't exist so we're preparing plans contingency”, confided the producer.
