The 31-year-old star has been releasing hit songs since 2011 and has released seven albums, including his first in 2013, Yours Truly.
The singer, who released an average of a new album every 18 months, warned her admirers that she would considerably reduce her musical productivity.
“I’m going to say something scary — it’s going to scare my fans and everyone, but I love them, and they’re going to deal with it, and we’re going to be here forever,” she recently told podcast The Bodybuilders. “I will always make music, I will always go on stage, I will always make pop, I promise. But I don’t think that making music at the rate I’ve been doing it for the last ten years is what I envision for the next ten years.”
Ariana Grande hinted she would spend more time directing musicals like her film Wickedexpected at the end of the year.
“I’m reconnecting with that part of me that started with musical theater and loves comedy, and it feels good to do that – finding roles to use those parts of me and putting them in little houses, characters, pieces, voices and songs. I’d be happy to do whatever makes sense, whatever role we deem appropriate, whatever role I can really do a good job in or honor the material at hand. I think it’s much better for me. I’m getting emotional,” she explained.
Wicked – Partie 1 is expected in Quebec cinemas on November 22.
