The singer promised to change his name if the reissue of his album reached the top of the charts.
On October 11, 2004, James Blunt unveiled his very first album entitled “ Back To Bedlam “. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this first opus, the singer released a reissue of this album on Friday October 11. And, for this release, James Blunt had launched an incredible challenge to his fans.
If this reissue of the album became number 1 in sales again, the singer agreed to legally change his name. A month later, the results are in. Luckily for James Blunt, he won’t have to change his name.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he indicates that his album came in 7th position. “ A belated ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped ‘Back To Bedlam’ reach number seven in the charts. This is an incredible result after 20 years. I’m glad I didn’t have to change my name – looks like you’re all going to have to put up with “James Blunt” for a few more decades… »
But a fun little wink, in the photo of his driving license that he shares on X, he bears the name Divock Origi, the famous Red Devils player.
The singer suggested taking the name “ Blunty McBlunt » but other suggestions were listed including “ Bames Jlunt », « Hugh Janus ”, or even “ Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Pop Star Four Chord Song Machiney », the latter, proposed by the star, can be translated as “ The tiny, tiny pop star four-chord song machine ».
