Gilbert Montagné is launched into a new promotional marathon to defend the release of his album of nursery rhymes “On chante, on danse”, which combines melodies known to all (“A green mouse”, “Pirouette, peanut”, “Trois petits chats” “) to five unreleased songs. After “TPMP” this weekend, the famous singer was the guest this Tuesday on “Bonjour”, the TF1 morning show hosted by Bruce Toussaint. The 72-year-old pianist was therefore welcomed to the sound of his hit “Les sunlights des tropiques”, an essential anthem for any successful evening. Moreover, the title could never have seen the light of day, as Gilbert Montagné recalls: “ I wanted to record it and do this song. But my producer at the time in Italy told me “I don’t think it’s good”. There were a few hours left in the studio, it was one o’clock in the morning, we called Didier Barbelivien. But back then there was no internet, so I played him the melody on the phone and he did the lyrics ».

“It’s another style”
On the set of “Bonjour”, Gilbert Montagné also discovered the cover of his hit “Les sunlights des tropiques” by Julien Doré, on the occasion of his new album “Imposteur” which was released on November 8. A piano-voice rereading stripped of its festive spirit. “ It’s another style! » began Bruce Toussaint before Gilbert Montagné responded directly: “ He gave charm, it’s different “. To which the columnist Benjamin Müller quipped: “ It’s not for the same dance ». « There you go… We can do both like this » concluded the singer, recently seen in “Mask Singer”.
However, the artist still says he is delighted with the reception this song receives during his concerts: “ It’s true, although it’s nice. And on stage it’s exactly the same. I’m lucky to have a really warm audience, younger and younger, there are a lot of children. And as soon as we start the intro of “Sunlights of the Tropics”, it’s already hot, but now it’s getting boiling “. We are now waiting for Julien Doré’s reaction!
