Booba recently expressed his dissatisfaction with a ranking of the French’s favorite artists. The poll in question, which sparked controversy, places Booba in 132nd positionfar behind other rappers like Gims, Black M et Soprano.
A relatively low position for an artist of his caliber, which provoked an immediate reaction from him on social networks: “What’s this old ranking?”. He notably highlighted the fact that only eight French rappers appeared in this list.
Booba highlighted a crucial point: the length and impact of his career do not appear to be reflected in these rankings. With more than two decades in the industry, he believes his contribution to French rap deserves better recognition.
One fan pointed out that la “offensive strategy” by Booba towards other artists could explain its position in the ranking. Booba also criticized the treatment of French rap in the mainstream media. He says that, despite its popularity, the genre remains underrepresented on major radio stations.
