Kendji Girac spoke on the show En Aparté this Thursday, October 17. The singer returned to the accidental shooting which almost cost him his life, evoking in particular the important presence of a friend afterwards.
Kendji Girac could have been there and he is fully aware of it. On April 22, after an argument with his wife, he shot himself before ending up in the emergency room.
After several months of convalescence, the singer made his comeback to the forefront. On October 4, he unveiled a new album entitled Vivre and, for the realization of this, he was able to count on the support of a long-time friend, Vianney. In the show As an aside this Thursday, October 17, Kendji Girac was transparent about the valuable help he received during the composition of this album.
Kendji Girac first explains that he spoke with Vianney on the phone only two days after his accident. The latter wanted to hear from him but also to know if he should continue writing the album. ” My brother Vianney calls me and says: ‘Do you want us to postpone writing, do you want us to wait?’ “he confided. After realizing that his voice was intact, Kendji Girac immediately asked his friend not to give up. “I told him ‘No my Vianney, on the contrary, that’s when you need to write. Stay in the studio, sing my feelings.’”, he continued.
Kendji Girac: “He knew how to find the words”
This album is special for Kendji Girac since he delivers himself in complete transparency. The first song revealed, titled If only is a direct message to his fans, whom he speaks informally for the first time.
“ We talked, I told him what was in my heart. He was very moved when I told him to continue and that this is when you have to sing everything”, remembers the singer before adding: “Because there I had my heart open wide“. Kendji Girac and Vianney have been friends for years and they know each other by heart. The singer therefore knew that he could count on his friend to put his troubles into words.
In the show, Kendji Girac praises Vianney, saying: “He knew, as usual and for years, how to surround me, find the words, what I wanted to say.” If he managed to give in, the 28-year-old artist confides: “Because I am someone who does not reveal himself easily“. This album is special for Kendji Girac since he does not hesitate to openly confide in his audience. The week following his accident, the singer wrote the songs entirely, with the help of Vianney. An album that is a bit like his personal diary.
Kendji Girac and Vianney: two long-time friends
Vianney did not hesitate to praise his friend a few days ago. The return to the forefront of Kendji Girac delighted him very much and he wanted to make it known. “There is a lot to say about this adventure which had a great impact on me. But I tried to be concise in this post” , he confided on his social networks. Vianney wrote many songs for Kendji Girac’s new album and he is proud to have been able to participate in this project.
“Writing you these songs thinking you’d never be able to perform them again ; this is what I found to express my friendship to you again”, he continued, very touched.
Vianney had things to say to his friend. “Today this album is finally released, on which you have never sung so well. You command admiration amigo, and I am so grateful for all the things that have linked us for 10 years”, he continued before concluding: “Thank you for the lesson in resilience and the man you have always been Kendji.” For his part, the principal concerned thanked his friend. “I read and I shiver my Vianney, my brother! You are the only person who can read my thoughts… I sing your words with incredible pleasure and emotion. Thank you for being there…Always there“, writes Kendji Girac.
