Jean-Jacques Goldman unbeatable, Florent Pagny in ambush

In the world of Jean-Jacques Goldman remains a sure value, we can’t help it anymore. For the 6th time, it topped the RIFFX barometer carried out by the Yougov polling institute at the request of Crédit Mutuel

from a representative sample of the French population out of more than 400 French-speaking artists.

Florent Pagny and Céline Dion reach second and third place in the ranking. Indochina, Francis Cabrel, Mylène Farmer, Stromaé, Pascal Obispo, Michel Sardou and Soprano complete the top 10. It is important to note that in the region, it is Florent Pagny who wins the ranking ahead of Jean-Jacques Goldman.

The 80s remain the favorite musical decade of the French, with a largely dominant presence of emblematic artists of this era in the top 100: Emile & Images (49th), Gérard Lenormand (65th), Gilbert Montagné (67th), François Feldman and Jeanne Mas (76th and 77th), Julie Pietri (85th).

Few women in the top 20

If Céline Dion and Mylène Farmer monopolize the top of the ranking, they remain the only female artists in the top 20. Parity is not respected, only nine singers are present in the first fifty places of the ranking.

Behind the icon who sang the Hymn to Love this summer at the opening of the Paris Olympic Games and the one who has just completed the largest stadium tour ever carried out by a French artist, we find Angèle (26th place), Zazie (33rd place), Louane, Véronique Sanson, Clara Luciani (36, 37 and 38th), further on Patricia Kaas (44th), Lara Fabian (48th) and Hélène Ségara (55th) complete the women’s Top 10. The only joy is Angèle who ranks 1st in the ranking among 18-28 year olds.

The low impact of major sporting events

With the exception of Céline Dion (already present in the top 10 last year) who gained one place, the major sporting events of summer 2024 do not seem to have had an effect on the ranking. Jean-Michel Jarre maintains the same position as last year (47th) and you have to go beyond eightieth place to find the artists who performed at the opening and closing ceremonies: Martin Solveig (81st), Redcar, ex -Christine and The Queens (86th), Zaho de Sagazan (106th), Juliette Armanet (113th), Aya Nakamura (142nd), Kungs (149th) and Kavinsky (150th).

Urban music dominates among 18-28 year olds

Electro current is very little represented at the top of the ranking. Only David Guetta (22nd) and Jean-Michel Jarre (47th) are present. Among 18-28 year olds, we find DJ Snake (2nd), Martin Solveig (20th), David Guetta (22nd) and Kungs (23rd). Although urban music, alongside pop music, dominates among 18-28 year olds, it still struggles to attract those over 30: there are only 13 artists representing the genre in the Top 100 among 29-50 year olds. and 4 among those over 50. Soprano, Mc Solaar as well as Big Flo & Oli are the urban artists who are unanimously appreciated by the over 30s.

Santa and Zaho de Sagazan the strongest progressions

Revelations of the year, Santa and Zaho de Sagazan are the strongest progressions in the ranking. They moved from 290th and 276th place respectively to 110th and 106th place. The winner of the Star Academy 2024, Pierre Garnier enters in 116th place between Dave and Frédéric François.

Finally, the differences between Paris and the French regions in terms of musical taste are real. Jean-Jacques Goldman, Céline Dion, Claudio Capéo, Nolwenn Leroy, Eddy Mitchell, Indochine, Vianney have an overweighting of fans in the Province, while more lyrical or lyrical artists have an overweighting of fans in Paris: Jeanne Cherhal, Yseult , La Grande Sophie, Feu Chatterton!, Nathalie Dessay, Pierre de Maere.
