Marie-Philippe Bouchard will replace Catherine Tait as director of CBC/-

The current CEO of 5 Québec Canada Marie-Philippe Bouchard will replace Catherine Tait at the head of CBC/- in January, according to our sources.

Marie-Philippe Bouchard has been at the head of TV5 Québec Canada since 2016.

The news was first reported by the daily Dutywho was able to confirm the information.

Before joining TV5 Québec Canada, Marie-Philippe Bouchard was employed by - from 1987 to 2016, where she held numerous management and senior management positions.

Marie-Philippe Bouchard is a lawyer by training.

However, she got her start in the legal services of the public broadcaster, she who has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1985 and holds a master’s degree in public law from the University of Montreal.

Marie-Philippe Bouchard will therefore succeed Catherine Tait who, in 2018, became the first woman to lead CBC/-.

Former president of Duopoly, an independent production company based in the United States, Catherine Tait succeeded Hubert T. Lacroix, who had had to extend his mandate, the Trudeau government having taken a few more months before taking a decision.

The current president and CEO of CBC/- was given a second, shortened 18-month mandate at the helm of the public broadcaster.

The Minister of Canadian Heritage at the time, Pablo Rodriguez, said that the decision to give him a mandate of 18 months rather than 5 years – like his first mandate – was justified by the rapid evolution of the media landscape.
