Kendrick Lamar has released a new track that once again references Drake.

MUSIC – It’s a surprise that Kendrick Lamar’s 16 million subscribers weren’t expecting. The rapper posted a new track on his Instagram account. This is his first song since the release of Not Like Us last May, in which he already readily tackled the Canadian rapper Drake. Here we go again. The hatchet is not buried.

No title, no clip, just a simple static image, that of a pair of black Nike sneakers. The song posted online this Wednesday, September 11, lasts a little over 5 minutes.

After a haunting introduction, Kendrick Lamar’s voice resonates. As our colleagues at Varietythe rapper mentions several personalities and in particular his own producer Terrace Martin, the “Christian” rapper Lecrae but also the hip-hop podcaster DJ Akademiks (accused of rape last May) who had, from the start of the Drake/Lamar clash, taken a stand for Drake.

And of course, Kendrick Lamar doesn’t spare his nemesis either. As pointed out Varietythe image chosen to illustrate this new title is not insignificant. In April, the Canadian released the title Push Upsa “disstrack” (track intended to directly attack a competitor) directed against Kendrick Lamar.

He then chose for his cover a label from a pair of size 40 shoes; a way of making fun of his rival’s “small” feet.

The interpreter of Hotline Bling is therefore directly targeted in this new song by Kendrick Lamar with phrases like « Just walked that man down, that’ll do everyone a solid – It’s love but tough love, sometimes you gotta result in violence ». Words that can be translated as: “ I just stomped on this guy, it’ll do everyone a favor – It’s just love, but tough love, sometimes you have no choice but violence ».

The beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has been going on for months now, via diss tracks. Not Like Usreleased last May and a huge success for Kendrick Lamar, directly accused Drake of being a sexual aggressor, and pointed the finger at him for having smeared the “icons” of West Coast rap Snoop Dogg and Tupac.

Four months later, over two million people have liked this new Kendrick Lamar song, which is only his fourth Instagram post since creating his account. Drake’s responses are usually quick. Wait and see.
