Death of Françoise Hardy: this powerful regret of Thomas Dutronc in the last moments of his mother

And he returned to the death of his mother, Françoise Hardy, which occurred on June 11, 2024. And the musician reveals this powerful regret that he feels about his mother.

In fact, the former singer, who has been ill for many years,
with laryngeal cancer did not have time to listen to his son’s new songs : “No, unfortunately, and I’m sad about it. I didn’t let her listen to anything until it was over, because she was still very hard on her teeth,” he confides, laughing.

With his mother’s very difficult daily life, Thomas Dutronc was not fooled: “Even though I expected it, her disappearance was a real cataclysm. It’s hard to explain. She had already brushed with death ten years earlier, but until her last days, she was really in life.”

Françoise Hardy then decided to remain active until the end : “She answered his emails, she followed the reissues of his albums on vinyl, she was interested in the tributes paid to him on France Inter and in Bourges, and we laughed a lot.”

His childhood memories

also returned to the last moments of life that he shared with his mother: “I knew the markers were in the red. I realized the bond we had together, so strong, so precious. All my childhood memories are linked to her…”, he confides, he who agreed to share photos of his childhood for his interview.

Grateful to have had a mother as loving as Françoise Hardy, he remembers the wonderful moments spent with her : “Until I was 14, we were always together, she really took care of me. And it was only in her last weeks that I understood how magical, beautiful and intense those moments were for her and me. She gave me such love, full of laughter and tenderness. She always looked at me with eyes full of wonder. It’s fabulous in a life to have had that luck.”
