Linkin Park teams up with Riot Games for Worlds 2024 anthem

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, Linkin Park made a splash by premiering their new single Heavy Is The Crown at their concert at Barclays Arena in Hamburg, Germany. The track, which is part of their upcoming album From Zero, due out on November 15, 2024, immediately captivated the audience. Fans in attendance quickly shared videos of the performance online, giving those who couldn’t make it to the event a sneak peek of the song.

Heavy Is The Crown is not just a single. The track has been chosen to become the official anthem of Worlds 2024, the League Of Legends global championship, an exciting partnership for the band. The track will be available tomorrow (September 24) on major streaming platforms, and a music video related to the esports event will be released on the official League Of Legends YouTube channel.

A new era for Linkin Park

The Hamburg show was only the third date of their mini-comeback tour, following performances in Los Angeles and New York. During the run of shows, the band revealed a new lineup that included vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, alongside longtime members Mike Shinoda, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and Joe Hahn. Additionally, guitarist Alex Feder replaced Brad Delson on stage, although Delson remains an active member of the band in the studio.

Shinoda also shared his vision for this new phase for Linkin Park: “This track is a real highlight of this new era for us. It captures our signature sound while infusing it with new energy. We can’t wait for gamers and our fans to discover it.”he said in a statement.

A partnership with Riot Games

The selection of Heavy Is The Crown as the anthem for Worlds 2024 continues a tradition of associating major artists with this global esports event. Maria Egan, Global Director of Music at Riot Games, expressed her excitement about the collaboration: “League players look forward to the Worlds anthem every year, and it has become a highly anticipated musical moment around the world. We are honored to partner with Linkin Park for the 2024 edition.”

A future full of promise

The Hamburg concert, as well as the two previous ones in Los Angeles and New York, allowed fans to discover Linkin Park’s new dynamic on stage. The impressive scenography, with an aircraft carrier-shaped stage, offered a unique experience to the spectators, while also allowing them to welcome a larger number of fans than on their previous tours.

The band will continue their mini-tour with shows scheduled in London and Seoul in September, before heading to Bogota in November. A longer tour is already planned for 2025, marking a strong return of Linkin Park to the world stage.
