In the latest Ciné-Télé-Revue, Thomas Dutronc spoke about his new album “Il n’est jamais trop tard”. The opportunity for him to return to the death of his mother, Françoise Hardy, which occurred on June 11, when she was 80 years old.

There was something very close between Thomas and Françoise Hardy. Their last moments together were all the more touching. “A week before leaving, the last text message she sent was to me,” he explained to Ciné-Télé-Revue, his throat tight. “In that text message, she told me ‘I love you more than anything’. I was really moved. I sent photos of me as a child with her. We were together very often and very close. And then she sent me another message right away: ‘I’m dying’. I thought she was going to die during the night. But I still needed to see her, to hold her in my arms.”

They would spend another afternoon together two days before her death. “We watched the Roland-Garros final, holding hands, like when I was a child, when we watched tennis together. She was at peace.”

The night of her death, Thomas was playing with Pierre Richard. “I hesitated to do it. But I accepted because that’s what she would have wanted. She thought that worrying about my career was more important than taking care of her. When I left the stage, my manager was there and I understood that she had left while I was playing.”
