Tito Jackson: Hollywood pays tribute to the guitarist and singer of the legendary Jackson 5

Hollywood pays tribute to Tito Jackson, who died at the age of 70.

Tito Jackson is honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after his death. Flowers are placed on the “Jacksons” star in Hollywood after the American guitarist and singer, a member of the legendary Jackson 5 and older brother of pop superstars Michael and Janet, died at the age of 70.

It was his sons Taj, Taryll and TJ who announced the news on Instagram on Sunday evening. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father Tito Jackson has left us.”they wrote. “We are shocked, sad and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone.”

The three brothers, who form the group 3T, also shared a strong message: “Please remember to do what our father preached: love one another. We love you, Dad.”

Steve Manning, a close friend of the Jackson family, revealed that Tito died of a heart attack Sunday while traveling between New Mexico and Oklahoma, where he resided. Until his final days, Tito Jackson remained active on stage, performing recently in Germany, the United Kingdom and California with his brothers Marlon and Jackie under the name “The Jacksons.”

A career marked by the success of the Jackson 5

A founding member of the Jackson 5, Tito contributed to some of the world’s biggest hits, including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There.” The group, signed to Motown Records in 1969, became a global phenomenon. But it was his brother Michael who achieved global fame as a solo artist, until his tragic death in 2009.

Tito, like his bandmates, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 by fellow Motown icon Diana Ross. Despite a career in the shadow of Michael and Janet, Tito Jackson has always maintained a presence in the music world.

After the Jackson 5’s heyday, Tito turned to more personal projects. Since 2003, he has been touring with his own blues and funk band. In 2016, he even had his first solo success with the single “Get It Baby”, followed by the album “Tito Time”. His latest project, “Under Your Spell”, released in 2021, featured prestigious collaborations with artists such as Stevie Wonder and George Benson.
