A day entirely produced by AI on Color 3

Less than a month after the arrival of a weather presenter created using AI on M Le Média, Couleur 3 is embarking on the adventure of artificial intelligence. However, the RTS radio channel goes much further, since the content broadcast on Thursday April 27, 2023 will have nothing human about it. All the texts that we can hear will indeed have been written by an AI, which will also have done the musical programming. And that’s not all. The voice of the hosts and hosts of this special day has been cloned and there will therefore be no physical person on the air.

“Like everywhere else, we have seen all these technologies arrive and we have a lot of questions about it, explains Antoine Multone, head of antenna at Couleur 3. We wondered how to deal with this subject in our own way. So we decided to go all out and see what AI can bring us and what its limits are. Can it be funny, announce a title with style, make a musical selection?

And according to the host Hadrien Mayoraz, the result, especially in terms of voices, is stunning, even if it is also frightening. “The tool is absolutely incredible, but it sends shivers down the spine to think that it can also be misused,” he confides. However, he is not afraid of being replaced one day by an artificial intelligence: “It is a possibility, but if it is only a question of profits, it is tragic. It can, however, help us to be more creative.”

Antoine Multone shares his opinion. “What we did for this day took us a long time and the result is really worse than with real animators. It is not profitable. Humans are better and I’m glad of that. That was kind of our goal as well. If AI can do something for us, it means we have to improve,” he concludes.
