A few weeks ago, Christophe and Laëtitia Morel recounted the drama they had experienced with their 9 children : l’fire from their house to Derval (Loire-Atlantique). The new year 2025 has arrived with its share of nice surprises, since they will soon move into a new house.
Fire in Loire-Atlantique: with their 9 children, they found a house
The events occurred only a few days before Christmas. In the afternoon of December 16, 2024while no one was present in the building, it caught fire due to a reflection of the pellet stove on clothing. “We lost everything in less than two hours,” confided Laëtitia Morel, the mother, to L’claireur de Châteaubriant.
Inside the family home they own, there are lots of breakages and darkness. The smoke devastated everything.
The population of Derval had demonstrated and continues to demonstrate a lot of generosity towards them. They received numerous donations of all kinds, for clothing, for toys and even for shelter.
In fact, they had been welcomed by brothers in the old college dormitory Saint-Donatien.
Moving in on February 1st
But parents of nine children aged 4 to 18their priority was to find a new home.
-After some research on the Leboncoin classifieds site, they came across a house.
This house has four bedrooms and a living room, which can also be used as a bedroom. It is located very close to the bus stop for our older children who go to high school and close to the college and school for the little ones.
The owner of the place was already aware of their history, through the press but also thanks to the outpouring of solidarity present in the town.
The move is scheduled for February 1, 2025. “We're going to be a little tighter, but at least we're in a house. This is good news, the situation is unblocked »he confides.
A year of work ahead
As for their burned house, they do not intend to give up. “The goal is to return to live thereafter a year of work,” underlines the father.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Tourniquet public school, the Saint-Joseph college and the Partagence association for everything they were able to do for them.
