“Moi!”
What advice would you give to the artist you were thirty years ago?
“I would tell her to remain patient, constant, and to remember that time is a true ally.”
What was the biggest lesson you learned?
“When the feeling transmitted is sincere, deeply inhabited and embodied, it touches the audience, whatever the language used. Love is understandable everywhere. It is a universal language.”
Are you one of those artists worried about rejuvenating their audience at all costs?
“No, that never happened to me. I know who I am, and I know that my audience grew up with me. I feel immense gratitude to see that the people who loved me are still here and have passed on that love to their families and their children. My audience has become family. The youth crisis has never affected me. However, I remain attentive to producing music that fits into our times, with current approaches and themes. We can still talk about love, but in a different way, adapted to our time.”
What does Lara Fabian need today?
“Of serenity, joy, peace, tenderness, light, my family and, of course, music.”
Lara Fabian: “I am much happier to be what I am today than what I was”
This opus embodies a true inner journey?
“Yes, it talks about self-respect and the desire to say things simply, without being cluttered with metaphors. I have done a long work on myself. The day you have had enough of suffering, you understand that we must choose another path. Sometimes we make choices, conscious or unconscious, that keep us in spaces of suffering But once you realize that you have the ability to change that, you never go back. . This power, when used with kindness, becomes a weapon to release one's pain.”
The songs from the album — “Je suis là”, “Ta Pain”, “Hypersensible”, “Je t’ai ai chasse”, “Réveille-toi”, “Je suis de toi”, “Une fleur à la bouche” … — are all striking. Which one touches you the most?
“My favorite is “I am from you”. It embodies a total liberation from the pains of the past, with an immense gratitude for life and for the people around me. This album is different from the previous ones precisely because it expresses a newly acquired freedom, peace and serenity.”
An invitation to see beauty in trials?
“Yes, absolutely. Sometimes it is difficult to see beauty in today's world, but we have a duty to look for it.”
After discovering so many cultures in thirty years, what makes Belgium unique in your eyes?
“Its infinite and eternal cordiality, its sweetness of life, its good nature, and above all the many people that I love deeply who are there. I also have the impression that we have become more and more aware of the singularity of our heritage. It is essential to continue to encourage it and let it emerge more than ever, so as not to lose it.”
Is Lara Fabian now happy?
“I continue to move forward on this path of working on myself, and it makes me feel better.”
