Business women

Born in New York on November 20, 1959, Nancy Shevell is none other than the daughter of Myron “Mike” Shevell, a trucking industry executive who made his fortune by purchasing New England Motor Freight in 1977. “Fascinated by toy trucks when she was little,” we read in Closer Weekly the American quickly followed in her father's footsteps and went to study transportation at Arizona State University. She was then the only woman in the department. After which she joined the family business in 1983 and quickly became vice-president. Alas, in 2019, it's a cold shower. Nancy has no choice but to declare the company bankrupt after accumulating millions of dollars in debt. At the same time, we also know that she served on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York – the largest public transport authority in the American state – from 2001 to 2011.

On the personal side, she shared the life of Bruce Blakeman, whom she met at university, for 23 years. From their marriage a son was born, Arlen Blakeman. But the couple struggled and officially divorced in December 2008.

As for Paul McCartney, his first marriage, reputedly happy, came to a tragic end with the death of Linda in 1998 from cancer. In 1999, the ex-Beatle met former model Heather Mills, who had had part of her leg amputated after an accident. He married her during a sumptuous ceremony in Ireland in 2002. But very quickly, this union turned sour, before ending in a shattering and expensive divorce, pronounced in 2008. Heather Mills obtained 24.3 million of pounds (30.8 million euros at the time) after tough negotiations.

Despite the death of his first wife, Linda Eastman, and then a stormy (and expensive) divorce from Heather Mills, Paul McCartney never gave up in love. And with Nancy Shevell, it's a business that has been going on for seventeen years already. In an interview published on his website on January 31, 2023, the Beatles star spoke about the central leitmotifs of his work: home, family and love. To the question “What is the role of a good husband?”, Paul McCartney cited three ingredients: “Try to be considerate and romantic”, then “make yourself useful”. Based on this observation, the lyricist of the many love songs of Beatles admits not to skimp on Valentine's Day, every February 14. “I’m totally overdoing it on Valentine’s Day!” he admitted again. The interpreter of Let It Be then detailed his attentions to his wife: “I mean, there's not just one card, there are hidden cards all over the room, and sometimes things even spill over into the next day – it's ridiculous. But if there's an excuse to have fun, I'll take advantage of it! At Christmas I go crazy with the tree lights and garlands. In short, I’m doing too much.” We expected no less from the composer ofAll You Need is Love.
