“I’m going to say this humbly, but I really mean it. I think one day people are going to wake up and realize that LL Cool J is the most important rapper that ever lived. I sincerely believe that one day people will say that,” he told host Mehdi Maïzi.

“They’ll look and say, ‘Wow, when we talk about jewelry, he’s the one who introduced all the diamonds and the bling and the jewels and the champagne.’ They will say, regarding love songs: “He is the one who introduced love songs and everything about love.”

LL Cool J, real name James Smith, also pointed out that he was one of the people behind the acronym GOAT or “greatest of all time.”

Reflecting on the title of his 2000 album, the singer Rock the Bells explained how he was inspired by basketball player Earl “The Goat” Manigault and boxer Mohammed Ali.

“When we talk about the attitude of bad boythey will realize that it was he who introduced all the rebellious styles and bad boy before it was fashionable. When we talk about GOAT terminology, they’ll say, ‘He’s the one who invented this whole GOAT thing.’ I could go on like that for a long time,” he continued.

“I have done so much for culture, it’s almost inconceivable,” he maintained. “Every artist you can name, the biggest billionaire artists were launched on the label that I started. I say this with love, I’m not trying to be funny, I’m not trying to be arrogant, I mean it… when I look at the epicenter of what’s truly important… it’s almost inconceivable. »
