Sponsor of the Telethon in 2023, Vianney is back for the charity event that changed his life. The singer confided: it took him a while to recover from the experience.
Let's go for the Telethon ! France 2 gave the start of the 38th edition of this charity event organized by the French Association against Myopathies. The objective of these 30 hours of solidarity is to raise as much money as possible to finance medical research, particularly for rare genetic diseases. And each year, a sponsor is designated to bring this cause to the media and meet affected families.
This year, it was the singer Mika who was chosen and has already made numerous appearances alongside Félicie, 14 years old, suffering from calpainopathy. Viewers will also find touching personalities like Tim, 26, suffering from Leber's optic neuropathy; or Paul, 4 years old, who lives with Epidermolysis Bullosa. But the show began with the handover between the new godfather and last year's godfather, Vianney, who returned to this experience that changed his life and left traces.

Vianney looks back on the Telethon experience
Presented by Nagui and Sophie Davant, the Telethon started this Friday, November 29, 2024 with the intervention of Vianney, sponsor of the 2023 edition. Very invested in his role, he confirmed: “It changed my life on so many levels. and that reconciles with many things”. For him, the event is a source of national pride: “We can be proud of our country because what we manage to do is still extraordinary.”.
The interpreter of Not there said to have realized “how collective and national it was” and states: “It's overwhelming to be a part of it”. Besides, he doesn’t plan to stop there: “As soon as we belong to this story (…) it is for life”. He then recounts the aftermath: “That’s what I felt coming out of that adventure (…) It took me a while to get over it to be very frank with you, and so did my wife.”.

An experience from which we do not emerge unscathed
Vianney looks back on this powerful experience and these extraordinary encounters he had as part of the Telethon. However, he admits: “But we also have to face these realities which are not easy”. Always committed, he explains: “When you are loyal, you don't forget and you try to continue”. Host Nagui summarizes: “Once a godfather, always a godfather”. Then singer Mika arrived for a handover. The only advice Vianney gave him was simple: sleep! Because the 30 hours will be intense.
