Social Media Misstep: “Billboard” Apologizes to Taylor Swift

The famous magazine Billboard apologized to singer Taylor Swift after making a misstep during the unveiling of her ranking of the biggest Pop stars of 21e century.

Placing the 34-year-old artist at 2e rang, Billboard released a video flaunting his many accomplishments.

The catch, the magazine used footage from a music video for the song Famous by Kanye West, in which we can see a wax replica of a naked Taylor Swift. This scene of Famous is accompanied by the lyrics “I made that b**ch famous”.

According to CNN, this part of Kanye West’s music video was at the heart of a controversy in 2016 when Swift denied having authorized the rapper and his wife at the time, Kim Kardashian, to use these words against her.

Kardashian and Swift exchanged a few jabs on social media at the time, posting excerpts from a recording of a phone call to support their respective points of view. Taylor Swift seemed to have had the last laugh.

The magazine Billboardwho has since edited the video in his publication, says he is “deeply sorry” for having “falsely” represented the famous singer.
