Alain Baousson has lived for several decades in Noumea. In New Caledonia, its pseudonym “Alain Guirec” is still in many ears. Sixty years of , anecdotes, references and encounters, that's what it tells The soundtrack of my lifeautobiographical work by Alain Baousson, originally from Perros-Guirec and former DJ at Les Chandelles in Trébeurden, among others.

“The common thread of this autobiography is music and the circumstances that led a person from a working-class background to find himself in the world of showbiz,” relates the music enthusiast, born at the Lannion clinic in October 1948.

A journey through time

Through this work, Alain Baousson offers the reader a journey through time, from the end of the 1960s to the present day. “If the anecdotes, stories, comments, situations are aimed at all the youth of this era, who are now approaching 70 years old, all generations are concerned” underlines the author.

Memories of the Pink Granite Coast

From Trégor, it is above all the pink granite coast that he knew. “Lannion, Perros-Guirec, Trégastel, Trébeurden and especially during my adolescence (14/20 years old) between the years 1962-1968. »

He remembers: “This period was wonderful, because there were many things to do, and we discovered cult shows. Musically it was the birth of all the stars, who became stars (Johnny, Eddy Mitchell, Sheila, Vartan, Beatles, Rolling Stones and much more…). It was also the period of the first flirtations, and on the relational side, in the summer we were waiting for our “Parisian” friends for July and August, and the winter was rather devoted to sport, especially football, where every Sunday the teams of Lannion, Perros, Louannec, Pleubian, Tréguier, etc. among others, met. »

For Alain, the years passed peacefully, “in complete freedom, in great carelessness. For me, it's my best slice of life. I’m signing to go back to that time.”

This framework had something “to make everything go as smoothly as possible.” The settings, the landscapes, the climate and the people had a lot to do with it, and especially the fact that the Internet did not yet exist, because we had time to dream, imagine and invent. This is priceless! “.

Radio as a revelation

On the music side, for him it all started “from the age of 13/14”, listening to Europe 1 Hello friends at the end of school. “Then it was Radio Caroline, the first pirate radio station off the coast of England,” he remembers.

I thought, I daydreamed, of seeing myself on a lively podium and singing the hits of the singers of the yé-yé wave.

Behind the decks in Trébeurden

Before his military service in 1968-1969, the young man he was cut his teeth behind the turntables of Candles in Trébeurden. Nightclub which closed last year after 60 years of activity.

On weekends, Fridays and Saturday evenings, I returned to the turntables at Les Chandelles de Trébeurden, but this time to do the musical programming and make the customers dance. I had become a DJ.

Always at Les Chandelles, but in , then in Carnac, from 1970 to 1975, Alain Baousson made the dancefloor vibrate and contributed to many wild evenings.

From the club to the record store

In 1975, his love for music took him to where he became the owner of a record store under theTop Music brand. Among its regular visitors, Alan Stivell, Dan ar BrazGlenmor. He also counted among his clients the one who would later be a saxophonist for Jean-Jacques Goldman and Jean-Yves Le Drian, mayor of Lorient and future minister for presidents Mitterrand and Macron.

Meetings and anecdotes

In addition to this significant professional life, the former Trégorrois DJ had the opportunity, during his life punctuated by memorable encounters, to have lunch or dinner with Johnny Hallyday, Bernard Lavilliers, Jacques Higelin, the Telephone group, Renaud… “With all these people, the reader will discover original, extraordinary and documented anecdotes. »

The man with 1,000 anecdotes also participated in the start-up and creation of the first free radio station in Morbihan, AVB.

At the same time, for 10 years, Alain Baousson worked in southern Brittany as a service provider with French film makers, counting more than a hundred galas and concerts to his credit.

Less than 24 hours to change your life

He recounts how he was contacted to set up a radio in New Caledonia“decision to be made in 24 hours to go to the end of the world”. This is how the man who operated on air under the pseudonym Alain Guirec moved to the Kanaks in 1985.

The soundtrack of my life recounts 60 rich years in France and New Caledonia, guided by music, which readers will be able to discover, with a number of situations alongside artists, singers… “For each person, something really happened, which deserved to be written”, concludes the one who was, from 2001 to 2019, tobacconist in Nouméa at the Café de Paris Kiosk.

If he had left the world of music professionally, music did not leave him. It was also when he was a tobacconist on the other side of the world that he had the opportunity to discuss with Louis Bertignac, in particular. “When I didn't go towards music, music came towards me” summarizes the former DJ in his book.

Now aged 75, Alain Baousson has “retired to his home and is enjoying the time” he now has. A calmer daily life, which contrasts with all his adventures and experiences.
