On the night of Tuesday December 19 to Wednesday December 20, 2023, individuals armed with baseball bats entered Vitaa's home, in Rueil-Malmaison. The singer and her husband were present at the time of the incident, as were their children. According to the Nanterre public prosecutor's office, three men broke into the property and kidnapped the family in order to steal valuables, including jewelry, a suitcase and an iPhone 15. “Last night, my family and I experienced one of the most trying and traumatic nights of our lives. Although we sometimes think about it, we are never prepared for it and I would not wish this ordeal on anyone, not even to my worst enemy”wrote the mother of three children, before thanking her fans for their “thousands of messages of love and support” which warmed his heart extremely.

In his documentary Vitaa: My name is Charlottethe singer recounted, not without emotion, how the burglary to which her family was the victim last December took place. It was 6:30 a.m. when her husband Hicham Bendaoud ordered her to call the police and go upstairs with the children. “In the two bedrooms upstairs, there are my daughter-in-law and my 20 month old daughter. There is a guy in front of me, with a bat, a hood, who raises his bat at me, who shouts at me: 'Give me the money, give me the jewelry'. I had horrible thoughts. I said to myself: 'He's going to rape me'“, she recalled.

“My daughter-in-law is on the floor with my daughter in her arms, crying, and I see my daughter looking at me. Luckily, my daughter-in-law managed to hide her phone“continued the one who was able to contact the authorities who arrived in just “four minutes”.
