“Pascal had a real crush”: this Cannes artist now creates Pascal Obispo’s album covers

It is already a long time ago when Doriane Malige exhibited her Indian ink drawings on the Moonlight market, at Plan-de-la-Tour (), with her mother sitting by her side to accompany him. “It’s a bit of a starting point”summarizes the young artist who has lived in for six years and will soon create, for the second year, the cover of Pascal Obispo's new album.

“It was about a year ago. I wanted to start my own business, I was looking for projects, challenges. I thought about writing to him because, my mother being a fan of his music, I I grew up with him a little. I knew that Pascal Obispo was a fan of painting and I really liked what he did.”

A stroke of luck and enormous nerve: the thirty-year-old solicits the singer via social networks. Sends him her portfolio in which she places all her creations, whether landscape sketches, custom furniture designs or even monumental frescoes. He, at the same time, is looking for someone to create the cover for his next album: L'Archipel des sequeles. “Pascal was particularly looking for a painter. When he saw parts of a fresco that I had posted on the networks for a project that I was carrying out for the Palm Beach casino – the fresco is to be inaugurated on December 4 –, he fell under the spell of my label.”

“A real favorite”

A fan of the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, Pascal Obispo asked him to draw inspiration from him to create the album cover. “He has an enormous culture, in the artistic field in particular. I love this painter too so I didn't hesitate. Pascal really fell in love with me so I was delighted.”

Since then, they haven't left each other's side. While the singer must soon release a new album, once again illustrated by Cannes, the latter is carrying out other artistic work for its musical application, Obispo All Access. “There you can find all his albums, his exclusives. I regularly create covers to illustrate certain titles, for example when he sings songs by other singers.”

Ambitious and reckless, Doriane continues her little path, whether it involves collaborations with artists, landscapers or architects and does not close any doors. “Any opportunity can be a good one to take. I love painting as much as graphic design, handwritten drawing… But what I love above all are large formats. I would also really like to get started in scenography. I consider myself a Swiss Army knife, with a very varied artistic universe that allows me to touch many things with my fingertips.”
