The Baskin Robbins brand has issued an apology for the unauthorized use of a slogan associated with Jang Wonyoung (IVE).
Recently, the ice cream brand released a brand new product called “Lucky Vicky Mochi”. However, the phrase ‘Lucky Vicky’ is an expression associated with Jang Wonyoung in reference to his English name, Vicky Jang. The phrase originated earlier this year due to Jang Wonyoung’s positive mindset during IVE’s comeback.
Since Jang Wonyoung is not a model for the brand and Baskin Robbins did not ask the brand’s permission to use the phrase, the product sparked controversy, and of course, posts related to the product in question have were removed when the controversy grew. Indeed, Baskin Robbins is accused of manipulating consumers by letting them believe that the product in question is linked to Jang Wonyoung, when this is not the case and that the sentence, which created a buzz in South Korea , is used for promotional purposes by Baskin Robbins.
On November 11, Baskin Robbins Korea expressed regret, stating:
“We did not look carefully at the verification process. We will strengthen our inspection procedures to ensure this does not happen again. We will no longer produce new stocks of the product, but the product will be sold until stocks already available last. »
