When Clara Luciani composed My bloodher next album which comes out on November 15, she was pregnant with her first child with Alex Kapranos. It is therefore to this son, born a year ago, that she wanted to address with this record.
The transmission of values, particularly with the title Come onholds an important place. If her boy was born into a family that lacked nothing, she wants to tell him that her beginnings were not so easy.
So when she came to Paris, she had no money and had to roll up her sleeves.
An unheatable maid's room
As she confides in Paris MatchClara Luciani therefore took on odd jobs. And to list them: “babysitter, pizza maker, hostess”. All this in order to pay rent for accommodation far from luxury.
“When I arrived in Paris, I lived in a maid's room of 9 m², which I never managed to heat. I slept in a coat, with the kitchen stove on to warm me up,” she confided to the magazine.
“The value of things and money”
Through the song Come onshe wants “to be sure that he keeps his feet on the ground and that he understands that it is important to work”. And added: “It’s a song that seemed essential to me for my son to understand the value of things and money.”
The interpreter of To grenades also admits that she is “happy to have struggled” before experiencing the success that she is known for. “This is what makes me savor every minute of my life,” adds Clara Luciani.
