The cause of death of former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno has been revealed. The artist, whose real name was Paul Andrews, died on October 21, 2024 at his home in Salisbury at the age of 66. This Monday, a statement posted on Paul's social media shared details of his autopsy. Her sisters, Cheryl and Michelle, confirmed: “He had a tear in the sac surrounding the heart, causing a rush of blood from the main aorta which caused the heart to stop. His death was instantaneous and hopefully painless.” Fans and friends paid tribute to Paul in a memorial concert in Camden, London, where musicians close to him saluted his musical legacy with a memorable performance.

A notable career with Iron Maiden
Paul Di'Anno made Iron Maiden history as the group's first singer, from 1978 to 1981. He lent his voice to the group's first two albums, Iron Maiden (1980) et Killers (1981), two founding records for Metal. Di'Anno himself said he was proud to have inspired legendary bands like Metallica, Pantera and Sepultura. “These albums are what introduced them to Music,” he confided in 2020.
An eventful solo career and a final project with Warhorse
After leaving Iron Maiden, Di'Anno pursued a varied career with projects like Battlezone et Killersin addition to numerous solo albums and collaborations. Despite serious health problems that forced him to perform in a wheelchair in recent years, Paul continued to perform, performing in numerous concerts.
