After 11 years as a host at 106.9 Mauricie and 20 years in the world of radio, Catherine Gaudreault hosts her last show on Friday before leaving to take on new challenges.
She left the radio industry to work at the Albatros Foundation, which works in the field of end-of-life care.
Ms. Gaudreault publicly announced the news of her departure on October 11 in a letter published in the newspaper The Nouvelliste.
In an interview on the show Always in the morningMs. Gaudreault says she made this decision because she wanted to try something else.
There are lots of things I want to do. Then I said, I’m going to run out of time to do everything, so if I don’t make the decision now, I won’t make it in 20 years either. And I always said to myself: “I hope I can make the decision before someone makes it for me”, because in our industry, unfortunately, that’s often the case.
she said.
Regarding her decision to join the Albatros Foundation, Ms. Gaudreault says she wanted to work in an environment that touches people, such as end-of-life care.
It seems like end-of-life care is all sadness, but there are so many beautiful moments. There’s something purely human about it, it’s hard to put into words. Yes, I could have gone and done lots of business, it’s true, but I want to go and make a difference with people, volunteers, who do something that is a little unknown on a daily basis.
she said.

Ms. Gaudreault is not closing the door to a later jump into politics or a return to the media world, but she wants to devote herself fully to her new role.
She thanked the listeners who have been loyal to her over the past few years.
I want to thank you. People who are interested in current affairs, who take the time to tell us about their lives, who take the time to sometimes tell us about difficult moments, and happy moments too
she said.
Ms. Gaudreault was notably co-host of a radio show with psychiatrist Pierre Mailloux.
