The Group or Duo Félix of the year was also awarded to Cowboys Fringants who lost their singer, Karl Tremblay, almost a year ago. I would be remiss if I didn’t share the prize with someone I miss dearly: my beautiful Karlosaid the songwriter, during his thanks. In my career as an author, I have only had one interpreter and it is him.

In an interview, the artist reiterated the extent of Karl Tremblay’s talent: He always knew how to retransmit the texts as if they were his own. I was half-hearted before coming here, but once the plays in the room, it’s a party atmosphere despite everything, life has to go on. It is certain that I will continue to writehe added, while specifying that he does not necessarily know what form this writing will take.

It was Marie-Annick Lépine who addressed the public during the reception of the Félix for Group of the Year: Thank you to the public for these 28 wonderful yearsshe said before telling an anecdote about the last moments of life of her lover, Karl Tremblay.

Pierre-Yves Roy Desmarais, who took over the hosting reins after Louis-José Houde had been at the helm of the gala for 18 years, did an effective job of filling his predecessor’s big shoes. Do you think I’ll sing in front of a room full of people who sing better than me? said the host, also known for his humorous songs – notably heard on Bye Bye – before starting a musical performance.

Let the music live in you, express yourself and let the difference live in you, if you have one.

A little earlier, the pianist praised the work of the Cowboys Fringants when she won the Félix for Album of the Year – Popular Success, which she believed would be awarded to Karl Tremblay’s group.

Daniel Bélanger was crowned Male Artist of the Year. In an interview, the singer-songwriter comments on the journey of new talents. Music is good as well as hard, but it’s an impulse. This is not reasoned. We can do it and [les jeunes artistes] will find a way to do it and live from it, even if it’s easier than – I was going to say in my time, but it’s still my time (laughs) – say, thirty years.
