Where does the ex-Beatles’ fortune come from?

Paul McCartney is now part of the very select club of billionaires. Better yet, he is the first musician to reach this level of wealth in the United Kingdom.

According to the Sunday Times which has just published its annual list of the country’s richest people, the assets of the ex-Beatles, ranked 165th, have increased by 50 million pounds sterling during the past year, until passing the fateful billion mark, which places him ahead of King Charles (610 million pounds) or JK Rowling (945 million pounds).

But then, how can we explain this leap in fortune?

The Beatles, always the Beatles

If Paul McCartney benefits from the inexhaustible success of the Beatles catalog, he has not rested on his laurels in recent years. Between 2022 and 2023, the venerable 82-year-old musician traveled the world as part of his Got Back Tour, and the recipes were there. But we can also cite the publication, a few months ago, of Now and Thenthis unreleased Beatles song made possible by the use of AI on old recordings.

A renewed interest in the four boys in the wind which is not about to stop since, last month, Beyoncé unveiled a cover of Blackbird featured on his album Cowboy Carter. Enough to guarantee Paul McCartney a new boost in his bank accounts by next year’s ranking!
