12 years, 7 months, 11 days : Should we watch the new TV film with Marie Denarnaud and Julie Gayet broadcast this Wednesday, May 15 on France 2? Our opinion

There are sometimes TV films which assume their unpleasant dimension, not to gratuitously shock or superficially upset but because their subject obliges them to do so. 12 years, 7 months, 11 days falls into this category. The score played by this TV film is indeed harsh, disturbing and demanding, and this little music serves the message and the complexity of its characters. It won’t please everyone and that’s okay. But for those who stay until the end of its 81 minutes, one thing will be certain and indisputable: the performance delivered by Marie Denarnaud, already formidable in the recent TV film Repercussions, and Julie Gayet is remarkable. Just for them and the playing lesson they give, without ever giving the impression of performing, 12 years, 7 months, 11 days definitely worth the detour. Everything is obviously not perfect in this TV film broadcast from 9:10 p.m. this Wednesday, May 15 on France 2 – we can regret the somewhat rushed finale, artificial and less organic than the rest of the story – but the desire not to offer a classic and smooth fiction is to be welcomed.
