“HPI”: Four (good) reasons to be addicted to Morgane Alvaro

Let’s be honest: at first, we didn’t believe it. It must be said that the “HPI” pitch made you smile, to say the least. A flamboyant redhead, dressed like a scrooge, who lives in a police station and solves in the blink of an eye a case that leaves an entire team of investigators hanging? Even viewers of TF1 weren’t going to buy that. And yet…

Since its launch in 2021, the series has racked up audience ratings: 9.6 million viewers on average in the first season, 8.1 in the second and 7.4 in the third, according to TF1 info. As for its cartoonish heroine, worn by Audrey Fleurot, seen in other front page series, she immediately found an adoring audience. Normal: Morgane Alvaro is the brain of an Asperger in the body of a hood. And on TV, there are no two like her.

Like Sheldon Cooper, the little genius of the sitcom “Big Bang Theory,” she has an intelligence quotient that borders on indecency. Exactly 160 IQ, like Einstein and Stephen Hawking. She inherited it from her father – a small-time crook who also bequeathed her his lack of manners and consideration. But we forgive him for his cavalier attitude because deep down, we would dream of being smarter than the others and being able to blow their noses effortlessly. Especially when, like Morgane Alvaro, you have a CV that fits on a post-it.

We’re not going to lie, in terms of looks, she’s closer to the girl of joy than to the academician. This improbable mix of stiletto heels, ultra-mini tight skirts with panther prints, flashy belt, gold handbag, neon earrings, all crowned with a mane of wavy hair, doesn’t that remind you of anyone? Morgane Alvaro is the Janice – yes, the one from “Friends” – of today. And their appearance is not the only thing they have in common. They also both have a strong tongue.

She dresses as she is: without filter. Morgane doesn’t bother with diplomacy or patience (when you think faster than anyone, that’s understandable). She speaks loudly, indiscriminately, to the point of often becoming rude. In short, with her, you never get bored. But it is precisely her eccentricity that makes her so funny – often at her expense – and that we secretly envy. Who wouldn’t dream of being able, like this Madame Sans-Gêne, to always get out of trouble thanks to her chatter and her nerve?

Morgane Alvaro is the archetype of the kid in an adult’s body. She may have three children, but she is the (dirty) kid of the family. Always broke, unable to keep a job, undisciplined as hell – to the great dismay of her teammate, Karadec, a psychorigid police officer – she is completely messed up. And so far west that she manages to get pregnant without knowing who the father is. In season 4, which starts on May 16, 2024 on TF1, and will be the penultimate in the series according to Audrey Fleurot, she will have to carry out the investigation to discover who, of the three papables, is the right one. But in his own way. It promises.
