Will French cinema soon implode? As the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival approaches, the MeToo movement could well resurface with a vengeance. A list of ten names of actors, directors and producers possibly involved in sex scandals is circulating and could be disclosed before the rise of the steps.

This Monday, May 6, Cyril Hanouna and his columnists returned to this explosive affair which could cause big shocks in the world of the 7th art. “We have a lot of names circulating, too, because we’re investigating this, it’s really panic on board.”, launched Cyril Hanouna before giving the floor to Gilles Verdez. “It’s explosive. If this list of names comes out, with the names as they begin to circulate – that is to say the greatest actors, the producers of every generation of French cinema – it is the end of French cinema as it is there, the end of the Cannes Film Festival“, estimated the columnist.

The C8 host and producer then stressed that the Cannes Film Festival might not take place if the names were actually revealed. “The Cannes Film Festival no longer has any reason to exist, French cinema will implode. It’s an extraordinary list”, added Fatou’s companion.

Cyril Hanouna talks about “names that everyone knows”

And to add: “The producers are panicking, everyone is panicking, there is crisis communication around the directors of the Cannes festival to try if it is possible to soften the shock”. Cyril Hanouna then clarified that the names were already circulating on social networks and that “it would be an explosion with names that everyone knows“. And to specify that these names would come out following an investigation lasting several weeks: “We don’t know if it’s an issue common to all or individual that affects each other.”.

Gilles Verdez was then cautious about the consistency of the legal cases which would affect these ten names: “We do not know what these ten names would be accused of. Are there any complaints? What are the deals? We do not know yet. But these ten names so that they come out now, it is the result of a long investigation, it is not a coincidence, we will see what is behind it“.

And Cyril Hanouna concludes: “If these MeToo cases are proven, all French cinema will be paralyzed. It affects the biggest producers and the biggest actors. Even the films that are going to be released there, I don’t even know how they’re going to be put on the screen, it’s really something crazy.”
