Things are going wrong on the rap world. The title battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has taken a new turn with the latest title from the American singer and songwriter, notably accusing Drake of being “a crook”. In euphoria, Kendrick Lamar doesn’t just scratch, he shoots at the one he describes as a “pathetic manipulator” and a “chronic liar”: “You’re not a rapper, you’re an impostor who hopes to be accepted ( …) I make music that electrifies them, you make music that soothes them. (…) Don’t tell lies about me and I won’t tell truths about you.”

Six minutes of a diss track (literally a insulting piece) explosive, K-dot chains attacks ad hominem. With a novelty, this time, in addition to the hypocrisy trials, the beef moves into the terrain of cultural appropriation, even racism. Kendrick Lamar explicitly criticizes the Canadian for claiming to be black when he is mixed race: “How many fairy tale stories about your life until we have enough? How many more black features until you finally feel black enough? »

The rappers surrender in quick succession

Between the two stars, the rag has been burning for a while. According to the Huffington Post, the piece Check a marked the start of hostilities in 2013, despite several collaborations in the early 2010s: in this text, Kendrick-Lamar claimed to want to destroy his competitors, including ex-friend Drake obviously. Since then, the rappers have been going back to back. In Push Ups, released on April 19, Drake’s title ironizes Kendrick Lamar’s collaborations with Taylor Swift and Maroon 5, and implies that the artist is not up to his ambitions, with a direct reference to his shoe size.

As the adage goes, “the more, the merrier”, so rapper Rick Ross, not entirely white either in this XXL feud, invited himself to the party. In a reaction video, he tells Drake not to respond to euphoria. To tell the truth, it would relieve us a little.
