“I often apologized…” Lannick Gautry explains why filming the TF1 thriller was “very difficult”

TF1 offers the first two episodes of the new Belgian mini-series Attractioncarried by Lannick Gautry And Laura Sépul, this Thursday, May 2 at 9:10 p.m. This fiction tells the story of Agathe, a housewife, her partner Fred and their seemingly perfect family. But the veneer quickly cracks, especially when an investigation is opened after the death of a woman in the hotel where Fred was staying during a business trip. Lannick Gautry spoke about his role as a troubled man, the filming, but also his next projects.

Attraction : How did Lannick Gautry prepare for this troubled man role?

Tele-Leisure : What did you like about this project?
Lannick Gautry:
Beyond the quality of the plot and the dialogues, I appreciated the narrative form. We quickly discover the situation in which Agathe finds herself facing her husband. I like when the viewer has a head start, as in Columbo. It was also the first time I was asked to play this kind of character.

How did you prepare to play Fred?
I listened to testimonies from people who knew a serial killer. Very often, this phrase comes up: “We never knew he could do that.” Physically, in his outfits, at his job, Fred is a very simple guy. The challenge was not to play the bad guy so as not to fall into caricature.

Attraction : the scenes of violence were “very difficult” to shoot for Lannick Gautry

Were the violent scenes between Fred and Agathe difficult to shoot?
Very difficult. In life, I am a lamb. But I had an exceptional partner, Laura Sépul, who has a true and generous way of embodying. On set, I often apologized. She answered me: “But no, go ahead!

From seducer to your beginnings in Our happy days to man suspected of being a serial killer in Attractionyour roles have really evolved!
I don’t know if I should take it well: the older I get, the more worrying I am [Il rit]. But that suits me, I want different things. At the beginning of my career, I rather played roles that “mothers love“. And when you fall into a category, it’s difficult to get out of it. Then, I wanted to make thrillers. The day that happened, that’s all I did.
